Baroque for the festive season

The Christmas feeling is starting to kick in and this only means one thing –parties! As the nights get darker the AW trends are literally glistening before our eyes, as this festive season turns towards the gothic baroque trend. For those festive fashionistas, this is the trend that will be heavily featuring in your AW12 party wardrobe, and with so many events on the horizon then we’ve got to ensure we’ve got enough to wear to look fabulous as always.

Think lace, think sequins, think vintage renaissance patterns, think metallics.. add in some pearls, jewels, beading, and embroidery and a touch of velvet or silk for a real sultry decadence feeling.. Imagine Queen Elizabeth I’s wardrobe…just a bit more modern and you can see the idea – but how to pull this off through the high street?

I LOVE this goregous ASOS Embellished Jacket £120.00 and the pattern on the shoulders is perfect for the baroque trend. If you’re going to go for something like this then I would look for something vintage as there loads of things like this around, and then they’ll be one off pieces, however if you’ve not got the time to go trawling through the shops then here you go! Perfect to glam up some simple trousers or top, or with a lace dress for a gothic embellished party look like this one from Zara £69.99.

Can't face the look head to toe then try something a little more toned down - The earrings at the beginning would be a fabulous little addition to an evening outfit (River Island), or perhaps try the belt from Zara for only £19.99 with this velvet pruple and crochet dress which adds a decadant winter feel by Coco's Fortune at Topshop £45. Alternatively take this spectacular bag from ASOS with you, (who would have thought it I know!)  for only £45.00. I bet it will last you a lifetime (or at least a few seasons) and it will certainly add an edge to your outfit. However if you want to add some real excitment to a simple outfit, definitley try this headband from River Island £28.00, swarming with jewels, metallics and amazing detail - over the top? No!

Mix and match some of these fabulous items for an evening of baroque glamour - I love the fringe top from Topshop £36.00, it can add some excitement from the usual boring black top and its perfect to dress up or down. My other favorite is the black sequined skirt from Zara £79.99 - the pattern is amazing and has a huge baroque-esq theme.
Leggings, Topshop £28.00
Lace Peplum Corset, Topshop £36
.00
Cream Embellished Shorts, River Island £45.00
Cream lace top, H&M £19.99

Now go and spend spend spend as those christmas parties are approaching fast... And there's always time to finish off the christmas shopping on the 24th December!
